Publishing Policy

All articles, photos, artwork and design published in The University News are developed and written by students. Therefore, our publishing policy is simple: In order to be published, you must be a student at Saint Louis University, though it doesn’t make a difference if you are an undergraduate, graduate, law or medical school student.

The exception to this is the op/ed section. The University News will publish commentaries submitted by any member of the SLU community, be it staff or faculty members, administrators or students. For more information on writing a commentary, please e-mail [email protected].

Letters to the Editor are accepted from anyone who has read our paper and has something to say about it. Letters must be 300 words or fewer, and can be submitted under the ‘Letters to the Editor’ tab on this website or to [email protected].  Please include your daytime telephone number so we can reach you to verify your identity.

Online Comment Policy

Anyone who has registered with our site is welcomed and encouraged to leave comments on stories. A free exchange of ideas, based in mutual respect, makes the democratic world go ’round. We do not control the comments sent to our site, but we reserve the right, yet do not assume any obligation, to refuse to post, remove or edit any comments posted to our site based on our own discretion. Your use of this site is conditional based on:

  • Not posting comments that are harassing, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, libelous, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable.
  • Not misrepresenting your identity or falsely using someone else’s.

All staff members of The University News are prohibited from posting comments on this site, therefore, if you wish to get in contact with someone on staff, please e-mail them using the information provided in the “Contact Us” section.
