John Cook gives recipe for success in business

On Sept. 12, Saint Louis University alumnus John Cook took the stage to give a speech emphasizing the effect of his philanthropic efforts on his success in business. Cook has since retired from serving as the chairman and CEO of PRG-Schultz International, Inc.
SLU junior dies; Mass on Saturday

DPS Director retires after 14 years at SLU

After 14 years at Saint Louis University, Jack Titone will step behind his desk today as the department of public safety director for the last time. As of Sept. 14, Titone will be retired, leaving current DPS Investigator Larry Purvis in charge as interim-director.
Clifton launches SLU Connection

Andrew Clifton, Saint Louis University's newly inducted Student Government Association president, launched a new interactive website on Thursday, Sept. 13, called SLU Connection. The site is intended to bring together students and administration in ways not yet seen at SLU.
Required "mentoring period" begins Monday

For the first time, University administrators are requiring that all underclassmen in the College of Arts and Sciences meet with professors in their declared degree programs during a three-week "mentoring period," which kicks off on Monday, Sept. 17. Students and their "faculty mentors" will discuss course options for the spring semester, as well as post-graduate possibilities and career goals.
Dedication ceremony date set for Research Center

The Edward A. Doisy Research Center, one of Saint Louis University's biggest construction projects at the moment, is rapidly nearing its completion. As a result of the center's progress, an official dedication ceremony has been set for Dec. 7. However, the center will open for research even sooner.

Kwabena Bempah Tandoh has dreams, and he is making them happen. Among K.B.'s biggest aspirations? "I want to start an inner-city boarding school," Tandoh said. He said that the school would provide college preparatory education for males ages 12 to 18. Tandoh, who "wanted to stay in higher education" after earning his college degrees in urban and community studies at the University of Connecticut, has started this year as a residence hall coordinator at Saint Louis University's Marguerite Hall and is taking his first classes toward a doctorate in educational leadership and higher education at SLU.
