It looks like SLU TV is going to be getting a few more computers-but this time, they won't be including any iPods in the purchase order.

SLU TV is in the process of taking over the Billiken Blockbuster Cinema, which has had more downs than ups this year, and in order to iron out the bumps in the process of bringing 24-hour free movies into students' dorms and apartments, they will be receiving funding from the Residence Hall Association to purchase the technology necessary to update the current system.

SLU TV will also be transferring their programming to the BBC, so for those of you that are worried that you won't be able to watch shows like "The Eric Immel Dance Hour," your fears are unfounded. This is also an advantage to KSLU, because it will free up time for more students to have radio shows.

It will provide SLU TV with a chance to step up and make good on its claims that it deserved to have the Apple G5 computer that started all of the controversy in the first place. Their office will be cleared of KSLU supplies, and they will have more space to work in their studio. Eventually, they will have a live feed and be able to produce live television shows.

But that doesn't mean you'll be seeing fewer movies on the BBC. It is likely that the majority of changes won't take place until next semester, and when they do, they should be organized in a way that they do not detract from the station's original purpose, which was to show films.

Between the new ability for live feed and the other equipment that SLU TV will be able to purchase with the money they get from RHA, we hope that SLU TV will also take the opportunity to expand their programming and recruit new members.

Now is a crucial time for SLU TV to assert its place here on campus, especially in the wake of the scandal that was exposed this past month. There's nowhere to go but forward, and if SLU TV doesn't take the initiative to use this opportunity to its advantage, students will surely take notice.
