Though Senator Joe Cirillo is certain to occupy the financial vice president seat-he's running unopposed, after all-he should be lauded for his contributions to the finance committee this year and for the esteem that he promises bring to the position.

Cirillo belongs to a sterling pedigree. His groomer, Financial Vice President Tom Gill, has managed student accounts deftly-and fairly-this year, though budget allocations loom near.

Ensuring that student funds are fortified against malfeasance and enforcing a policy of transparency, where students are privy to the funding process and to the size of the student fund, are the mainstays of Cirillo's platform.

Presidential candidate Cari Johns said on Tuesday that her foremost concern was repairing the integrity of SGA by holding her executive board and the senate accountable to the students. Cirillo's initiatives are clearly aligned with this task.

Upperclassmen scholarships, which have been elusive heretofore, will be framed, polished and implemented, owing to Cirillo's business know-how. The administration has been waiting for something with a concrete foundation, a plan informed by research and feasibility, Cirillo claims.

We hope he's right.
