Serving for a year as a senator of the Doisy School of Allied Health Professions, Teresa Gabhart has more experience than her competitor.
The administrative vice president job entails, as part of the job description, serving as the head of the Committee for Internal Affairs, a committee that has been in the spotlight recently due to the iPod scandal. Gabhart has guaranteed that holding senators accountable for their actions will be one of her top priorities. The fact that she has distanced herself from Andrew Chappelle, after helping establish his ticket, speaks volumes for her credibility.
It is important for the head of the CIA to be able to make hard decisions (including, sometimes, impeachment) under a great amount of scrutiny, and Gabhart's experience and credibility make her a good fit for the job.
His proposal to get legislation out to all students before every SGA meeting sounds impressive, since many students would like to be able to give more feedback on legislation before senators vote on it. However, this idea is a little impractical, seeing as the SGA, which already posts legislation on their website, has trouble getting legislation typed up before the meeting at which it is to be presented.
However, with what has transpired over the last few weeks, it is important for the head of the Committee for Internal Affairs (a position he would hold) to be a well-established and respected member of the SGA-someone whose decisions would pass muster-and Mehta would be hampered by a lack of experience and internal understanding in the organization.
