In the last full week of classes here at Saint Louis University, and with finals just around the corner, the staff at The Bean, SLU's coffee shop located in the Busch Student Center, has already seen an increase in business.
"There are only a few other places open as late as we are and they're both off campus," said sophomore Ashley Jelks, who works at The Bean.
"It definitely makes it more convenient for students without cars," said Jelks.
Business remained steady throughout The Bean's first year, with a large increase around midterms.
The Bean currently offers daily special drinks, and from 4 to 6 p.m. patrons can get the daily special for half price.
The most famous drink for coffee lovers during the stressful exam time is the milky way. For those who don't enjoy the taste of coffee but still need a caffeine jolt late at night, or early in the morning opt for the hot chocolate.
But Jelks wants to make it clear that you don't have to order off the menu. The staff at The Bean is willing to mix flavors and ingredients to suit your exotic tastes and desires.
Jelks who started in September enjoys working at The Bean. "It definitely has its perks. I get to meet a lot of new people."
The Bean is located on the second level of the BSC next to the bookstore and is open Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m, Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to midnight.
