Gwen Stefani released her debut album entitled "Love. Angel, Music. Baby" on Nov. 23. The album is quite a shock, and a departure from the smooth yet distinct sounds of No Doubt.
Stefani has decided to step away from the band and prove that she can do things on her own.
The album opens with her debut single, "What You Waiting For." It's a hilarious song that sets the overall tone for the album. Stefani also includes songs by Dr. Dre, including "Rich Girl," which features Eve, and then jumps into a tune produced by the Neptunes called "Hollaback."
The truly great songs are "Bubble Pop Electric," which is a hand snapping toe-tapping tune; "Hollaback," by the Neptunes, which is shocker; and "Luxurious," which is a tune that slows down the Isley Brothers song "Between the Sheets." It is a good song to just relax and ride to.
As I am a true No Doubt fan, I can safely say that this is an album for not only for the No Doubt fans, but for anyone that is looking for something that is out of the ordinary.
Stefani blends alternative, rock, rap, pop and R&B all into one album that shows us that she's a rock girl, who has a soft side, too.
She shows us that it can be hard to be a diva sometimes, but everyone can relate to her songs and the messages that she wants to get across about true-life lessons.
Some say that she is still searching to find her distinctive voice, but I think she has already found it.
