Donate toys to give Christmas to local area kids

The Center For Leadership and Community Service (CLCS) invites the Saint Louis University community to get into the holiday spirit of giving by participating in its Christmas At SLU toy drive.

Thursday, Dec. 2 marks the sixth annual Christmas At SLU, where children housed in local agencies are brought to campus for a Christmas party and gifts. CLCS plans to offer gifts to more than 150 children this year. In 2003, 120 children received gifts at the event.

CLCS is requesting the help of the University community to ensure that no child goes home empty-handed. Toys and other gift donations will be accepted through Tuesday, Nov. 30, in Busch Student Center, Suite 335. Gifts should be appropriate for boys and girls age 5-13. Please limit the gift price to $15 to $20 in order to avoid gift comparisons among the children. CLCS will accept monetary donations and purchase toys in your individual or department's name. Toys or gifts that are not distributed at Christmas At SLU will be donated to a local homeless children's shelter.

Christmas at SLU will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, in the Saint Louis Room of the Busch Student Center. For more information, e-mail David Clark at clarkdd@slu.edu or call the Center For Leadership and Community Service at (314) 977-2805.
